Congratulations Aspiring Early Educators

Let's Grow Kids is thrilled to congratulate the recipients of Let’s Grow Kids’ first annual Scholarship for Aspiring Early Educators!

This scholarship program was created to support and build awareness of early childhood education career pathways as Vermont faces a shortage of qualified early educators.

It’s very exciting to be able to support the early childhood education career pathways of these dedicated and passionate students who are committed to ensuring Vermont’s youngest children get a strong start. In addition to four $1,500 scholarships, Let’s Grow Kids is offering free memberships Vermont Association for the Education of Young Children to the top 20 scholarship applicants.

Child care professionals are the backbone of our essential early care and education infrastructure—we have to do a better job of acknowledging and enriching their child-development skills and paying them what they are worth. This scholarship program is one small way we hope to support the current and next generation of aspiring early educators in Vermont. However, we know this doesn’t address the significant need for increased and sustained public investments.

Decades of research have shown us that educator qualifications are the strongest predictor of program quality and child outcomes. In order to support children’s healthy development, we need to support the current and next generation of early childhood educators by helping them get the education they need and making a livable wage once they do so. That’s why we continue to advocate for state and federal funding to support early educators.
