Ownership Succession Options for Child Care Businesses (online real-time training)

This 90-minute Northern Lights-approved online, real-time training will describe all of the possible ways owners of child care businesses can pass their business on to new owners. Included in this overview will be the pros and cons and the mechanics of selling to an outside buyer, transferring ownership to family members or a key employee, and selling to the larger group of employees.

Our panel will include business broker and exit planner Lynne Silva, Principal of The Silva Group, Elena Gustavson of Vermont Community Loan Fund, and a short segment on selling to employees presented by Matt Cropp of the Vermont Employee Ownership Center.

Participants will:

1. Receive an overview of possible ways to pass ownership of their business to new owners;
2. Learn about specific mechanics of selling, transferring, or selling to employees; and
3. Learn best practice around preparing a child care business for an ownership transfer well in advance of a sale to maximize its value and ensure a smooth transition.
